雪峰义存禅师向众人开示道:

“将整个大地撮成粟米粒那样大小，抛到你面前，你们漆桶一般不能识得，无法明了。打鼓，请大家一起看。”

Zen Master Xuefeng Yicun addressed the assembly, saying:

"If I were to compress the entire earth into the size of a millet grain and throw it before you, you would be like a lacquered bucket—unable to recognize it, unable to understand it.Beat the drum—let everyone take a look!"
